Congratulations to Brady High School Teacher
Kami Dodds
McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce
Teacher of the Year

Below is what was said at the Chamber Banquet before Kami received the McCulloch County Teacher of the Year award.

Good Evening ----I'm Jill Mays and I am the Counselor at Brady HS.
At this time, I would like to ask our Special Olympics Unified Team and their coaches to join me on the stage.
Just a few weeks ago these young men and women were honored by the State of Texas as a Recognized Unified Champion School.
Which means that Brady High School has demonstrated a commitment to the inclusion and partnership of students with intellectual or developmental disabilities with typically developing students.
Brady High School has accomplished this through our:
  • Unified Sports Teams (Powerlifting, Basketball, Track, and Bocce)
  • Inclusion of our SO athletes by being recognized in Pep Rally’s and our Sports Banquet
  • The FBBB
  • FFA
  • Student Council
This recognition is significant because we are the 2nd school in the state to receive this honor!!!
Please join me in giving these young men and women a round of APPLAUSE!!!!
Now----I have a surprise.
All of what I have described would never had been achieved without the vision of a teacher that joined our staff 3 years ago-------
Kami Dodds
Kami has worked in BISD for 9 years. Her first 6 years at BMS and the last 3 at BHS. Kami is one of the most amazing teachers that I have had the pleasure of working with.  She has a heart for service.  She is an active member of the Brady Rotary, she sponsors our Interact Club on campus that is the high school version of Rotary.  Near and dear to her heart are our Service Men and Women.  She is in charge of our Veteren’s Day program at BHS.
Kami is a passionate individual and the passion she has for bettering the lives of her students is one of her most admirable qualities.  When she came to BHS, she wanted the students and faculty at BHS to have a chance to see how amazing her students truly are and--- Kami it has worked.  Through her vision and with the help of Erin Rainey and our PAL program, there is a bridge that has been built between our special needs students and typically developing students.  There is a unity and awareness felt in our halls among all students and faculty.
I began by introducing myself as the HS Counselor, but I am also a parent of one of Kami’s students and I know I can speak for the rest of the parents when I say:There are no words to describe how much it means to have your child truly feel a part of the student body, accepted for who they are and what makes them special, and take pride in themselves.

Nominated by Melissa Regeon and seconded by all at BHS ----I am very proud to have the honor of presenting Mrs. Kami Dodds with the McCulloch County Teacher of the Year award!
